Flopsy the Peppermint Bunny

So I am excited about this bunny! I got the idea, again, from pinterest. I just looked at the picture and made up my own variation, so here is the pattern!

This bunny will be 13" tall from head to bottom of foot.

***If you notice a mistake please let me know so I can correct it. I like everyone to be able to learn how to make things. So my patterns are free, DO NOT SELL MY PATTERNS!!!

YOU WILL NEED

  1. 3.5MM Crochet Hook

  2. Caron Simply Soft Yarn in Light Green (I started this bunny mostly just to learn how to do it, so I didn't start with a new skein. It might be wise to get 2 skeins, but you might only need one.)

  3. Pink and Black Thread

  4. Two buttons for eyes

  5. Sewing Needle

  6. Yarn Needle

  7. Spot marker (I just used a piece of yarn that was a contrasting color)

Legend

sc- single crochet

dec- decrease

inc- increase

ch-chain

If you have never made amigurumi before, it is a little different than normal crocheting. You don't slip stitch, or chain to make increases. You basically just spiral. I would suggest researching amigurumi quickly before starting.

You will want to use your marker in the first stitch of each round so you can see where your next row starts. My pattern is done in only single crochets.

Here is a link that shows you a lot of great tips for amigurumi

HEAD

To make the head I did follow a pattern for making a sphere. She did the math to make it a "perfect sphere" so I like to use her pattern for this.

She has a lot of different sized spheres. Here is a link to her page. On her page it only goes up to 30 rows, but she has a link to larger spheres that she wrote up.

30 Row Sphere Row

1) Ch 2. 6 Sc in second Ch from hook. (6)

Row 2) inc in each stitch around. (12)

Row 3) (1, inc) repeat () around (18)

Row 26) dec, 5, dec, 5, dec, 5, dec, 5, dec, 4 (29)

***(I like to stuff the head somewhere around here. It just needs to be a wide enough opening to fit your stuffing, and small enough that the stuffing won't fall out when you finish your circle)

Row 27) 1, dec, 3, dec, 3, dec, 3, dec, 3, dec, 3, dec, 1 (23)

Row 28) 2, dec, 3, dec, 2, dec, 3, dec, 2, dec, 1 (18)

Row 29) (dec, 1) repeat () around (12)

Row 30) 4 scdec. Fasten off. Weave loose end through each stitch in the opening. Pull tightly to close.

Take your black thread and sew the outline of the nose and the line of the mouth. Then make the nose with the pink thread. Sew the buttons on. Here is a link on how to do an amigurimi face properly.

Body

For the body i used the 26 row sphere, but I made alterations to it so that it became more the shape of a body.

26 Row Sphere

Row 1) Ch 2. 6 Sc in second Ch from hook. (6)

Row 2) inc in each stitch around. (12)

Row 3) (1, inc) repeat () around (18) Row 4) 1, inc, 2, inc, 3, inc, 2, inc, 3, inc, 2 (23)

***Now you will stuff the body. You can either attach the body to the head right now, or you can wait and attach everything at one time. Im impatient and wanted to see what it looked like, so I attached parts as I went.
